Look around, enjoy the scenery, check out the traffic, or stare at my pretty face for an hour if that’s what makes you happy. 😂 While we drive, I’m pulling back the curtain on the business side of being a YouTube creator and talking about where the money actually comes from.\n\nHow does YouTube make money? How much of the advertising revenue gets shared with creators? How important are sponsorships? And why can dealing with brands and marketing agencies make you want to repeatedly slam your head into a wall?\n\nWe get into YouTube monetization, ad revenue, sponsorship deals, brand partnerships, merchandise, giveaways, creator income, and some of the behind-the-scenes stuff viewers normally never see. There are some fantastic companies that understand creators, respect the audience, and are genuinely great to work with. Then there are the agencies trying to wedge themselves into the middle and skim money off the deal, along with brands whose list of demands makes you wonder if they actually understand YouTube at all.\n\nI also get into merchandise and giveaways, because that’s another huge part of the creator economy that I’ve never been completely comfortable with. Merch can be a great way for viewers to support a channel, but I don’t want every video to become an elaborate sales pitch designed to convince you that you NEED another T-shirt.\n\nAt the end of the day, my goal with this channel is to help people and make entertaining videos while doing it. I don’t want the business model to become figuring out how to extract the maximum amount of money possible from the people watching.\n\nEventually we make it to a good friend’s tow yard in Watsonville to drop off some parts, and I wrap things up with the most important part of this whole discussion: you guys.\n\nYour views, comments, shares, memberships, purchases, and support are what allow me to drive hundreds of miles to help somebody, spend hours recovering a vehicle, and quite often hand them a bill for exactly $0.00.\n\nSo thank you. Seriously.\n\nYou guys have given me the ability to build a business model around helping people instead of charging them, and that’s something I never take for granted.\n\nEnjoy the drive, move the camera around, and welcome to the weird behind-the-scenes world of how YouTube creators actually make money.\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nSupport the companies that support us!\n\nhttps://autohaul.com/\nAuto Transport.
